The most amusing aspect of the company, in my opinion, is the fact that you can’t buy any tractors! So, how did you come up with that name?! …

The company was established in 1938, and as you might expect, they specialised in ordering tractor parts. Initially, they were a mail-order business, but owner Charles E. Schmidt Sr. launched their first physical store in North Dakota one year later.

In 2004, they began to take off, and they were named one of Fortune’s fastest-growing companies. They bought Petsense, the market leader in pet supplies, in 2016, so it’s no wonder that livestock and pet items are now one of their most successful categories, accounting for 47 per cent of their revenue!

Tractor Supply hopes to have 2,500 locations operating by the end of the year. They have several stores planned to open in the early spring of next year, with a goal of opening 120 per year until they reach the 2,500 mark.

Best of luck! I’m confident that if they continue to listen to their customers as they did in this tell tractor supply survey, they’ll be well on their way to meeting their objectives.
